Frank Ochoa from PivotBoss.com has finally released his much anticipated book based on Pivot trading. These years-learned secrets and methods have been the basis of many a successful trading system and Frank clearly lays out strategy and techniques to make them part of your every day trading success.

In the appendix of his book, Frank publishes code for several of the examples in the book but they are not TradeStation compatible. I have republished them, the best I can, so that those in the TradeStation community can work through Frank’s strategy and indicators. These indicators and strategies are all open-sourced so you can modify them yourself to fit your own needs.

	The Winklevoss twins are Bitcoin bulls
The Winklevoss brothers’ legal battle with Facebook (FB) over the social network’s messy creation made them rich. They eventually walked away with stock worth around $150 million at today’s share price. (They haven’t disclosed how much of the stock they’re still holding.) A few months ago, word spread that the twins, Cameron and Tyler, had set up their own investment firm and decided to focus on a curious market niche: bitcoins. The brothers are betting that the cyber currency can turn them from millionaires into billionaires. They’ve invested in buying the coins directly (they told the New York Times that they began “dabbling” last summer, when prices were in the single digits), and this week, they disclosed their first Bitcoin venture investment: A stake in New York-based payment processor BitInstant. The Winklevii, as they’re known around town, gave a keynote talk Friday night at Bitcoin 2013, a conference in San Jose, Calif., bringing together Bitcoin developers, miners, investors and enthusiasts. The presentation was light on specifics but heavy on bullishness, as the brothers charted the currency’s rapid rise and explained why they believe it’s got much further to go. The price of 1 bitcoin has risen from $5 a year ago to a record high of $266 in April. It currently hovers around $120 per coin, setting the combined value for all 11 million bitcoins in existence at just shy of $1.4 billion. “This isn’t a bubble or tulip mania,” Tyler told the crowd of several hundred attendees. “This is rapid adoption. This is a rush.” Ideological underpinnings aside, Bitcoin has two key selling points as a payment system: Anonymity and much lower transaction fees than rival digital systems like credit cards. The twins believe that bitcoins can transform the payments industry the way that Skype and other VoIP (voice over IP) services demolished the long-distance calling market. They’re eying payment processing services like BitInstant as a way to take the currency mainstream. Winklevoss Capital recently led a $1.5 million financing round for the two-year-old firm. So when a bitcoin-focused startup takes on venture capital cash, how does it do it: Traditional money or actual bitcoins? “American dollars,” says David Azar, a private investor who participated in the round. “Only American dollars.”

	The Quiet Triumph Of Oil And Gas In Obama’s Policies
Wolf Richter www.testosteronepit.com www.amazon.com/author/wolfrichter It was announced Friday afternoon, when no one was supposed to pay attention: after years of controversy, heated rhetoric, intense lobbying, and stiff opposition from some unlikely bedfellows, with multinational industrial and chemical companies weighing down one side of the bed, and environmentalists tossing and turning on the other, the Obama Administration decided in favor of the US oil and gas industry. With geopolitical ramifications. The Department of Energy “conditionally authorized” Freeport LNG Expansion LP and FLNG Liquefaction LCC (Freeport) to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas to countries with which the US does not have Free Trade Agreements (PDF, 132 pages). Already allowed are exports to the 20 countries with FTAs – most of them in the Americas, but also Australia, Korea, Singapore, Israel, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, and Morocco. But exports to the remaining 180 or so countries have to jump through some hoops. So Freeport’s LNG Terminal on Quintana Island, Texas, is now authorized to export 1.4 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of LNG for 20 years to those non-FTA countries. Freeport joins Cheniere Energy Inc.’s Sabine Pass terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, with an export capacity of 2.2 Bcf/d. Freeport’s and Cheniere’s combined capacity would amount to 5.2% of US production (estimated at 69.3 Bcf/d in 2013). Other companies are cooling their heels in line at the DOE, which would, as it said, “process the applications currently pending on a case-by-case basis.” At snail’s pace. The administrations sole concession to environmentalists. “DOE has had the remaining applications on its desk for months and should ensure that these applications are approved without any further delay,” groused Erik Milito, of the American Petroleum Institute, a trade association representing over 500 oil and gas companies. Hurdles remain. DOE approval is just another step. The plants will have to get a permit from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and must pass an environmental review, which could be a nail-biter. And none of the plants are up and running yet. Then there is an unknown: how will world markets react to this additional supply that competes with at least 63 LNG export terminals currently planned or under construction worldwide? US production can rise to meet that new demand, as the gas glut in recent years has demonstrated in its bloody manner. But for production to rise significantly, the price – which is still below the cost of production for most “dry” gas wells – must rise as well. Industrial and chemical companies that use natural gas for energy or as feedstock are deeply worried. Would they end up having to pay European prices? Or catastrophically, Japanese prices? The gas industry and its pundits have feverishly assured them that LNG exports would have “only minimal impacts” on gas prices in the US. Yet, the moment DOE announced its decision Friday afternoon, natural gas spiked about 3%, before retracing some of it. The largest potential customers for LNG are Europe and Japan – staunch allies of the US. Europe is furiously trying to break the stranglehold that Russia’s Gazprom has on its gas supplies. Norway has morphed into a large producer, but it isn’t nearly enough. With prices two to three times higher than in the US, cheaper US gas hitting these markets would wreak havoc in Russia and its political clout in Europe. It would be a game changer in the EU economy, which is bogged down in high energy prices. And it would bring the European allies closer to the US. But it might not happen, at least not initially: because there is Japan, the world’s largest most desperate importer of LNG since the shutdown of its 50 surviving nuclear reactors following the Fukushima meltdowns. The country is doing some serious soul-searching about nuclear power, and whether or not to bring reactors back on line. Meanwhile, its utilities are getting ripped off by distant natural gas suppliers that charge over four times the current price in the US. Freeport already inked contracts with BP for half of its capacity and with the Japanese utilities Osaka Gas and Chubu Electric for the other half. So at least half, but probably much more of its shipments would be destined for Japan, still the most lucrative market in the world. Those contracts are already being leveraged by the Japanese government in its negotiations with Gazprom on a number of deals, including Japanese participation in an undersea pipeline from Russia’s Far East – which is far only from Moscow – to its neighbor, Hokkaido, the largest island of Japan. But environmental groups in the US, already fuming at their erstwhile messiah, are getting madder with every fossil-fuel deal the Administration approves. The controversial Keystone Pipeline, which Native American opponents have equated to “environmental genocide,” is waiting in the wings. The Administration simply doesn’t want to get run over by the momentum of the oil and gas industry, and the thousands of high-wage jobs it has created. And it wants to lick its geopolitical chops. The status of the US dollar as the world reserve currency gives the US tremendous advantages. Among them: it allows the Fed to export inflation, while the Federal Government can run a huge deficit with impunity. But now an angry Russia has had enough! Read…. 	At Sony, Investor’s Challenge Brings Unwanted Suspense
The mood extends beyond the walls of the 44 1/2-acre lot. Each year, Sony rents out the entire Ritz-Carlton Cancún Resort for an international press junket. Day after day, the studio flies in stars and hosts parties. “What I love about Sony,” said Matthew Tolmach, a former executive at the studio and now a producer based on its lot, “is that they still love movies, and they are incredibly aggressive about making all kinds of them.” He added: “It’s why I want to live there.” While competitors like Paramount, Disney and even Warner Brothers have gone through ferocious consolidation — all focusing more narrowly on blockbuster-style fantasies and superhero movies — Sony has been slower to give up the industry’s broad prerogatives. Its ambitions still stretch from R-rated romps to “The Amazing Spider-Man” to tiny foreign films to African-American comedies to Oscar-caliber dramas. That requires making a home not just for Mr. Tolmach but also for an extensive family of filmmakers and stars. Sometimes it pays. Last year, Sony Pictures Entertainment generated about $4.4 billion in global ticket sales, the highest in its history, powered by nine No. 1 hits including “Skyfall,” “Men in Black 3” and “The Vow.” It had an Oscar contender, “Zero Dark Thirty,” started a new franchise, “Hotel Transylvania,” and revived an old one, “21 Jump Street.” It ended the year in first place in market share. But in true Hollywood style, the Sony picture is not quite what it seems. The truth is that Sony finds itself at a troubled crossroads. Its go-to stars — Adam Sandler and Will Smith — are now a generation older than the prime film-going audience. And its steep production and infrastructure costs burden Sony with one of Hollywood’s worst profit margins. Sony’s entertainment unit had an operating margin of 6.5 percent in its last fiscal year; the figures at Warner Brothers, Disney, Paramount and 20th Century Fox were all higher. It is extremely hard to compare studios, analysts warn. Some make only movies, while others, like Sony, also make television shows. Financing arrangements and accounting vary. Sony does not divulge how much of its profit comes from movies and how much comes from its fast-growing television business. In its last fiscal year, the studio reported operating income of $509 million, up 40 percent from a year before. That result looks fantastic until you consider that roughly 65 percent of the total, analysts estimate, came from a relatively small television arm that includes shows like “Wheel of Fortune” and “Breaking Bad” as well as overseas cable channels. Analysts complain that the giant movie side is holding back profitability. The movie unit has also lost the man long seen as its protector inside Sony, the far-flung Japanese electronics behemoth. That man is Howard Stringer, who was Sony’s chief executive for seven years. Last year, he turned over the Sony helm to Kazuo Hirai. Mr. Stringer will retire as chairman next month. But the truly startling plot twist came on Tuesday. Daniel S. Loeb, the activist hedge fund manager known for successfully engineering a shake-up at Yahoo, told Mr. Hirai in a letter that his Third Point investment fund had become Sony’s largest shareholder, with a 6.5 percent stake. With that announcement, Mr. Loeb proposed breathtaking changes at the company, including a spin-off of up to 20 percent of its studio and other entertainment holdings. Overnight, Michael M. Lynton, the C.E.O. of both Sony Pictures and Sony Entertainment, and Amy Pascal, co-chairwoman of Sony Pictures, found themselves under a kind of weight rarely felt in Hollywood since the 1980s, when corporate raiders and high-yield bond peddlers like Saul Steinberg, the Bass brothers and Michael Milken delved into studios, looking for hidden value. “The entertainment businesses are important contributors to Sony’s growth and are not for sale,” Sony asserted in response to Mr. Loeb. “We look forward to continuing constructive dialogue with our shareholders as we pursue our strategy.” A spokeswoman for Mr. Lynton and Ms. Pascal said they had no comment. Several days before the disclosure of Mr. Loeb’s letter — in response to questions about the studio’s performance and its movie release lineup — Steve Elzer, a Sony spokesman, wrote in an e-mail, “We have been strong and steady not just for a year, but for longer than a decade.” He added, “We couldn’t be more confident in our slate this summer and through the year.”

But since its founding in 1985, the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts has never really had a home of its own, having always shared facilities on the Cal State L.A. campus. So it marked a milestone for “LACHSA” and arts education when the school’s new $31 million facility was unveiled today at a grand opening ceremony. “LACHSA’s new building is more than a beautiful learning environment. It serves as a beacon of hope for the future of arts education in our public schools,” said Arturo Delgado , superintendent of the Los Angeles County Office of Educations, which operates the school in partnership with Cal State L.A. The three-level facility features 21 classrooms and black box theatre on 1.24 acres of land on the university campus. For the first time in nearly 30 years, LACHSA is able to hold academic classes in one building and has access to its own rehearsal and performance space. “It has been more than two years since we broke ground on the new Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and the wait has been well worth it,” said Cal State L.A. President James M. Rosser . “Now some of the region’s — and beyond — most talented young artists have a state-of-the-art facility that is esthetically beautiful and provides its talented and dedicated faculty and staff a variety of tools to engage and enable students’ full potential.” Elected and education officials joined with hundreds of students, families, alumni, school personnel and stakeholders for the afternoon grand opening ceremony held as part of the annual “LACHSALive” all-day festival of performances and exhibitions. Funding for the school’s construction came from a $31.8 million “financial hardship” grant to the Office of Education through the California School Facilities Program from Propositions 47, 55 and 1D. The final cost of the project was $31 million. Construction began in February 2011. The Office contracted with HMC Architects of Ontario and construction management firm Bernards of San Fernando for the project. The black box theatre was equipped through a $1.25 million grant from state’s Career Technical Education Program and a generous matching gift from the Leonetti-O’Connell Family Foundation through the Arts High Foundation. Named “Caroline’s LOFT” (Leonetti-O’Connell Family Theatre) in honor of LACHSA co-founder Caroline Ahmanson , the space provides for rehearsals and performances as well as technical training in the cinematic arts and stagecraft. An $875,000 grant from Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich (Dist. 5), also a LACHSA co-founder, is funding construction of an amphitheatre scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2014.
