40 DMA % Index scores bullish from Friday’s close.. $SPX

Score: +6 There is some encouragement here for the bulls as the 40 DPI on all three indexes remain about their 20 DMA and put in higher daily closes giving a perfect bull score.  Monday needs to follow through. Video: How to interpret 40 DMA % Index Download: StockFinder  5.0  – 40 DMA %...

Ten day highs minus lows remain weak .. $SPX [Chart]

Score: –4   Only the RUT was able to put in a neutral score on the 10 DHL charts from Friday’s action.  The NYSE (top) and Naz (middle) both had weaker daily bars but just slightly.  Monday should be a test for the bears as 10 DHLs that drop off suddenly buy don’t maintain...

How we traveled for the week.. $SPX, $RUT, $BKX.. etc

This is the weekly sector/index performance chart for the last week in July.  You can see that semis really started selling off on Tuesday closing the week on the lows, down around –3.5%.  Top gainer for the week was the banks putting in a 1.5% gain at the Friday close.  In the unreadable...

Think outside the box.. $SPX 1092/93 and 1108

Good morning. This morning as I sip my coffee and write my blog we are sitting with a -4 point handicap on the markets.  ES, the S&P futures, seems to have found a temporary bottom at 1090 having bounced there 3x times now.  Yesterday we stayed within the confines of our fence for the...

We got mixed signals on ten day high minus lows.. $SPX

Score: –4   Only the NYSE put in higher daily readings, the RUT and Nasdaq just missed. None of the indexes were able to negate the negative momentum so we end up with a score of –4, two on the negative side for the NAZ and RUT and a neutral score for the NYSE....

40 DMA % Index returns to bullish.. 2 out of 3 $SPX

Score: +4   The 40 DPI for the NYSE and the RUT both put in higher daily values over yesterday.  Unlike the new high indicators this indicator is all about the close so there was some gathering strength today. Video: How to interpret 40 DMA % Index Download: StockFinder  5.0  – 40 DMA %...

52 Week New Highs all over the board today .. $SPX

Score: 0  The markets gave us a zero composite score for the three indexes we watch.  The NYSE (TOP) putting in a higher daily but not enough to turn up the momentum line . The Nasdaq Composite (middle) put in both a higher daily and was able to push back up...

Can we get out of this range $SPX 1102 –> 1116? [Chart]

Good morning.  We are nursing a 6 point SPX gap up this morning @ 7:20 am on what is a test the bulls day.  Today by the end of the day we should know what this market is made of.  Super bulls or situation normal. I will save the market comments for the...

It is looking slightly bears for the 10 day highs minus lows from Tuesday.. $spx

Score: –2   NYSE moved to the bear-side while the NASDAQ and RUT remained neutral for a second day.  It will require higher prints today to restore bullish breadth or a run back up to the recent highs to get us back to neutral.  As a note, I have not quantified but briefly looking...

40 DMA % Index is waiting to see what happens.. neutral.. $SPX [chart]

Score: +0   Neutral for the 40 DPI from Tuesday as all three indexes have started to curl back toward the trigger line.  There is still room for a couple of more days of weakness before this signal would turn fully bullish.  Any type of up day as is expected on Wednesday will restore...
